Whatsitfor?
This item was bought for $3 at Mudgee tip shop but the lady who bought it would like to know what it was made for. It's about 100cm h by 40 at the base. Seems hand made rather than machined & the upright & brace is rebated. A few folks have suggested boot polish rest but to me that angle wouldn't be at all comfortable. Anyway, ideas welcomed, tia.wood.jpgstand.jpg

It has a carry handle, the brace is rebated into the base and it looks like the base on the opposite side to the brace has some wear (how long is this piece) so my guess is that it was used as some kind of leverage device.

I'd be inclined to think that ^^^ might tempt a snap to the handle part.

True. It's also much taller than any boot-jack I've seen (which were much more like this), so maybe it has some more obscure use....

The timber looks too clean to have been used on the ground outdoors?

It looks like something a carpenter might carry room to room clamp a door to the vertical to aid in hinging?

It'd be handy for someone who wanted it.

Wish I had customers like that who would buy something with no knowledge of what it was or what it did

It's a metre high and built to support a fair bit of weight along the length of the base but not much laterally. I wonder if it's not some sort of assistive device for a disabled person.
