    Default wheelchair / access ramp

    Hi all,

Im looking at building an access ramp for the nan as the stairs are getting a bit much for her these days. Im just wondering what the best material will be to make it from. The length of the ramp will be about 3m on the incline by about 900 wide. When there is a big downpour the yard floods a little, meaning the ramp will be submerged a bit during a good rain.

I was thinking of using treated pine slats, or would a ply board be better for the actual surface of the ramp. Just need to consider the water factor. Also an idea or plan for the hand railing wouldnt go astray. The project need not be fancy just work and be reasonably economical! Any ideas or websites that can help me out would be very appreciated.

    Regards,
    Mickem

My ramp is made from cement fibreboard 3/4"thick I think its strong no matter what you make it from weather will cause problems. slippery when wet so a hand rail needs to be attached.
