Default Who's Excited - Sydney Wood Show 2013

We have less than 10 days before the start of the Sydney wood show. I expect that there might be a great variety of people attending the show. So how excited are my fellow wood workers in attending the show? Will you be catching up with some old friends?

Let me start this conversation off by telling everyone that I am excited. I have a feeling of great exceptions and looking forward to spending three days at the show. Learn something new, get a better understanding of developments in tools or be reminded of some old ones. Who knows what might happen, the anticipation of not knowing is the driver for my excitement.

So lets hear from other people with their responses on what level of excitement they are feeling.

P.S. I know helping out on the forum stand is going to be exciting as well. For those members that are not helping please drop by for a cuppa.

Christos your a one in a million don't ever change with all you have had going on in the back ground, sorting rosters, work, moderating you still have time to stir these "old blokes" up

Yes catching up is all part of the reason to go as well as tool and wood drooling, getting in for that nice piece of timber before someone else does. Seeing whats new, who's come up with new ideas.

I see some interesting demos going to take place as well which should be good.

Since I missed last year, my level of excitement has gone up for this year. On Wongo's scale I'm at 35.6

I think Wongo was referring to his age?

If that's the case then my excitement is off the scale
Really looking forward to the show. I've had the hotel booked for months.
Looking forward to catching up, even though I've been to 2 GTGs and a Demo already this year,(that reminds me, I have to send a PM. Be right back..) want to catch as many demos as I can and spend a ridiculous amount of money on tools that I absolutely cannot do without. And of course shepherd some unenlightened souls into the radiance that is The Woodworking Forums.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

i have been overseas...so this is my first visit in about 6 yrs...im pumped, but i'm not sure why...last time i went it was at moore park....is it better at homebush?? I tend to go on the sunday arvo...for the full scale bargain buckets.. probaly wont be buying any wood. but i have a hankering for some diamond stones and mortise chisels. I just love all the gadget demos......ahhh watching the Z-vise demo about 20 times in amazement, wanting one, then not willing to spend $400....judging by haow many of those things i see 2nd hand these days, im guessing some people cant help themselves.......perhaps i'lll get sucked into the gadget that can sharpen everything, or the foldable table saw run off a cordless drill..........love it all

Anyone got any purchases that they want to share?

I'm picking up a woodfast lathe on the day that's not too far away from home bush and im keeping an eye out for a bobbin sander and a wet stone grinder. Something along the lines of the Sheppach since I won't have enough for the tormek.

    Maybe some timber too

Nothing wrong with the Scheppach bobbin sander.....not so sure about their wetstone grinder though

I usually go to the show on the Friday, which involves battling though the hordes of kiddies (even to get in). This year I'm thinking of trying the Sunday instead, maybe rocking up mid-morning.

I'll be there all day Friday and half of Saturday.

I'm looking for a new dust extractor. I'm pretty much set on the Clearvue cyclone but thought I'd see what else is available (and if anything is possibly better).

Same here. I asked clearvue if they were going to have a stand at SWwS but he said he wast prepared and aparently not viable for him at the moment. I just wanted to see one in the flesh or operating.

Thankfully I got to see this thanks to Chris Parks ex clearvue distributor as I bought his bandsaw. He has a pretty nice setup. 150mm piping everywhere

Not surprised Clearvue won't be at the show - its an expensive proposition for a small outfit like them.

Outside of the usual Carbaforbes/Major Woodworking offerings, I can't think of any other dust extraction offerings likely to be on display . Felder have some nice units, but they haven't been at the Sydney show for years now.

I'm in trouble for having too much timber laying around the home. That said I know that Mal and Greg will be thre.

    I'm a 33,7 on the scale.
