will this work?
so ive been looking at wall beds and its not really what im after and definitly not my budjet so im going to take the headboard and foot board off my bed tie my mattress onto the slats and i found these things in the shed...they are round and theres a circle iside a bigger circle it feels really heavy when it spins and very smooth feels like a gyroball and im thinking ill get two of these for swivels and put them into either the wall or more likely some wood becasue i want a little space between the wall and bed...im going to do it horizontally so it shouldnt be a problem to lift but if its too heavy i want to get some rope and sort of hoist it up and im wondering ...what are the round things i found called..and is there such a thing as a round thing wchich i can put a rope through which will pull it smoothly or something that will let me hoist it up and feed the rope through but not let it slip backwards and fall on me... thank you and i know my discriptionm is probably difficult to undersatnd...also does anyone know any really obviouse reason why this wont work? i guess ill find out but since im renting the house i dont want to toaloly destroy the place with enthusiasm and lack of foresight...

I made a fold up bed a while ago. It's held to the wall with 2 screws. Try googling 'wall bed'. There is a kit from USA which includes gas struts and plans that I used that works fine.
Not sure if that's any help or not.

What you want is a grigri (google it). Used by climbers to allow the rope to go one way, but not the other. Pull a lever, and it releases the rope to go in both directions. I've used them hundreds (if not thousands) of times.
