    Default Wine cabinet finished

Going to try to be more active here. Most of my posts have been on restoring old machines. Now that I have them all pretty much finished I can concentrate on building furniture.

Here is the last project. It is my sisters Christmas present. Yes I am late finishing it but she lives a long ways off and it may be a couple more months before I can get it to her. So I am not 'technically' late.

I asked her if she had something she would like built last summer. Told her I would build her something for a Christmas gift. She is a Chef and was actually looking for a cabinet at the time. So, I got her to send me photos or what she liked. We took the best or the different designs and using Sketchup I designed this for her.

It's made of Walnut. I love working with walnut. It's so easy to work with! I just need to move it from the shop out of my way now till she can come pick it up.

That's superb, I love the look, smell and workability of walnut

If you had any "along the way" or progress pics I'm sure we'd all love to see them

That is indeed a thing of beauty! A great argument for the classically-evolved designs of the past, making the best use of the properties of the wood, both from the point of how it looks, and more importantly, how it works.
My only misgiving is that some of us live our creative lives vicariously through such great work. (yes, any "work-in-progress" shots would also be much appreciated)

It must be good to be working with wood again.

I like the size of the wine cabinet. You could put it nearly anywhere.

It is still a Christmas present even if it isn't ready until March. There is no way your sister would complain.

I have photos of the during. Just need to get them loaded. Actually need to get the web page on it done! Of course that takes time away from the shop.
