Andy,
Here are 2 pics of the 'Huon with history' that I was talking about.

It's yours if you still want to pin-stripe the rockers (pimp ma ride?).
It is already sawn to 25mm but would dress to 22/23 without any trouble.

PS, the steam box is still usable if neededa rock is an obsolete tool ......... until you don’t have a hammer!

This morning I laminated the arm blanks and started working on the back slats.
The slats need a slight crown on the front and a full round over on the back that meets a hard line on the front. I'll post more pics when I get a chance that explains this better.
Doing one back slat is pretty straight forward but doing 7 that all look relatively the same is a bit of a challenge. I used my fine wheel in the grinder and refined the detail with my rasps. I tried to be consistent with how many passes I took and I'm fairly happy how it turned out.
This is just one part of this process. I need to use a tenon cutter (Veritas) to create a 1"2 dowel that will fit into the 1/2" hole that I drilled in the seat. Once I've done this I can cut them all to length using my yet to be made headrest as a guide and blend in the remaining sections with the round over. So in other words, lots of work!

It's looking great Andy. You're making great progress. That walnut is going to look beautiful with the finish applied.

WIP - Maloof inspired rocker
I reached a pretty significant phase of the build today. Well for me anyway. I drilled and screwed the legs to the seat. One screw for the front leg and two for the rear. I'll use a Veritas tapered plug cutter to cut out the Huon pine plugs once it's glued together.
Next I'll cut out the arm blanks and fit it to the rear legs. There's a bit of a process involved including lots of angles but I'm really looking forward to it.
There is also shaping to be done on the seat including transitioning the pommel (front) to the rest of the seat. I'm still playing around with how I would like it so I'll wait until I'm happy. I'm very fussy....

I also picked up some west system epoxy. I'll use this for most of the glue ups. I got slow setting hardener so I got a bit more open time.

I've had that west system epoxy set pretty quick even if i follow the 5:1 epoxy to hardener so now I do 6:1 just to be on the safe side.

The ratios with epoxies are fairly critical. More so with some brands than others. A 10% difference in ratio can be the difference between setting and not really setting. Not really setting is not what you want.
I suggest that any change in ratio should be tested before use in making. Make up a small batch of the recommended ratio along with a small batch at your desired ratio. Let it go off, in pot, or on a piece of scrap. Compare and contrast the result. The last thing you want is for the joint to fail because the glue didn't work.
The difference between 5:1 and 6:1 is way more than 10% and would concern me.

Yep, refrigerating the components before mixing will slow down the cure. Forgot to add that little trick. However, my rule is. ANY variation to ratios or procedure NEEDS to be tested for adequacy BEFORE you commit to the change. Don't ask me how I know!!!
There has been a hell of a lot of work gone into this piece so far in terms of both time and money, it would be a terrible shame to have a bad result because of assumption. There ain't no devil, it's just god when he's drunk!!
