    Default Not achieving much

Does this just happen to me

Have a few days off which I have spent mainly in the shed and going to the Big Green Shed.

I have been trying to make 90 mm circles, and do you think I can get them correct, wasted sooo much timber and have achieved very little.

Made a jig for the bandsaw but then they blade came off so do you think I could then get the jig to work.

Now it is sort of hit and miss....I need to come inside and vent.......is soo frustrating, should be such a simple thing still have about 20 to go I think.......grrrr

Arry, what was the blade width you were using? I guess you have not got a lathe to turn them down to size.

Bugger me I didn't even think of that...I have only had my lathe for two weeks ...

I have made pens and a baseball bat but I didn't even think of it lol

most of the circles are either too small or too big

the small ones are no good but the bigger ones I could try turning them down to size

    cheers

PS, The thread wasn't so much for help but to see if anyone else has days where they seem to achieve very little lol

Or you could pick up a holesaw and do the job in five minutes

Oh boy yes. I'll get up looking forward to really getting on with a project. Have a leisurely breakfast, play some tennis, lunch. It's already 1.30! Get all set up and realise you're going to need an extra clamp...back from the shop and you cut your timber too short because you aren't thinking. Another trip but now you're rolling! Oh but it's 4.30 and already getting dark (I work outside).

End up with a couple of pieces of timber cut to length. Hooray for progress!

Oh yes Arry, I can relate to this. I'll be getting going on a project just as the day is coming to an end so I decide to sort some stuff out so I' ll be ready to get straight into it next weekend. Trouble is, 2 weeks later when I finally get back in the shed, I can't remember what I sorted out.

    And it gets worse!

I thought retirement would see me churning out projects from the shed like a mini factory - no interruptions, no impediments, no worries! But even without stuff-ups (of which I still have my goodly share!) or things not working out as planned, whole days whiz by and very little happens. Sometimes it's because I decide to fix some small irritation like a chisel handle that was never right, or rearrange the tool cupboard to make it more convenient to reach the most-used tools, but some days just go by & I don't know where they went.

The good news is, you're never bored in the shed - mad as hell, occasionaly, but never bored...........

    Cheers,
    IW

Hi Ian your comments would fit me to a tea, with addition that my wife Patricia and I have spent 7months out of the last two years traveling on and off.
Plus there is a hammock that I have a lay down in and have a think about my next move and generally go to sleep... But it’s still great fun and beats working
