    Default WIP - my first rocking chair

    this is my first attempt at making a proper rocking chair so your coments and critisizam will be much apreciated.

    i am cutting all my own timber so if i compleatly ruin it i am not out of pocket.

    this arvos work was to cut the timber and mark and drill the dowel holes



    dry fit the seat and fix any gaps.

    Looks good, will have real character if all timber has that grain.

    Mate, I wish you well on the project. I'm glad you got someone to help you with the thicknessing.

    You mention that you have to fix the gaps. I'm not sure what you intend to do, but I think you need access to a jointer to straighten those edges. Alternatively you could use a table saw.

    after reviewing the plans i decided not to run the doards threw a thicknesser as they all need to be shaped anyway so there is no point.

    i have cut them on the table saw they just need the holes cleaning out and clamping in tight.

    bloodwood has allways got grain like that there is also a fair bit of blood ring in those boards.
