WIP Snare Rack - Part 1: Wood
Here's some of the wood I am using for my snare rack. This snare rack is just going to be a prototype for the moment, later I will make a full sized rack with more Australian timbers such as Jarrah, Blackwood, etc...
Plans will come shortly......I'll either need to learn google sketch or crack up good old AutoCAD! I'm leaning towards AutoCAD seeming as I have used it professionally.
So anyway I found this curly hardwood at bunnings for stuppiiidd prices...while shopping for lightbulbs...
I've finished it with some danish oil....
Anyone know what it is?

I'll have a stab. I reckon it's a Flindersia, possibly pimenteliana

Please tell me more about the description of the timber from Bunnies.
I think you should stretch yourself by incorporating a bit more interesting joinery in the design , maybe dovetailed half laps or M&T joints

The timber I found out, is curly eucalyptus. At Bunnings it was near the plywood area, standing in a verticle pile and labeled simply as "Hardwood" - There were quite a few species too. I didn't have time to pull them all out, but this piece jumped out at me,

And this will just be a prototype (albeit pretty looking) for a bigger monster of a rack.
