Thumbs up Wixey digital height gauge

    G'day,

Having just caught up to 90% of you lot, I recently got a Wixey digital height gauge. I'm impressed with the little thing. So too is SWMBO, she says anything that helps me get the right measurement is a good thing. No more squinting at my little Toledo ruler to check router bit height or saw blade, gotta love that.

Got it from Professional Woodworking Supplies. Next up, sometime down the track the will be the Angle Gauge and Planer Gauge. Some people have a liking for the colour orange, me - little digital readout blokes.
I make things, I just take a long time.

Yeah - I'm very fond of that one (and the others in the range as well).

I've also suggested to Barry (Wixey) through Grahame that they consider a TableSaw calibration setup. Seeing as they have 90% of what they need for an awesome kit already!

Even that height gauge as it is may be quite useful in that regard.

Once you go to measuring things to 1/10th mm, there is no going back!

I have looked at those height gages and a few other types. I wish that I could set the saw dado height to the nearest 1/128" or .2mm. I can usually hit 1/32" on the first try but with test cuts I can get to 1/128".

The router is a different story. Once I set zero height by feel then almost any accuracy is possible. In a hand held PC router I can easily set the bit height to 1/128" every time. The router in the (PRL from Woodpecker) lift in the table I can hit 0.001" or 0.025mm.

What I would like is something that can easily be attached to the saw, automatically KNOW where zero is and then be accurate to the nearest 1/256" or 0.1mm when blade height is adjusted.

OK, all you engineers out there, there is a need for a yet uninvented product.
