What wood for a spring-board?

I think that it would have to be laminated. No single bit if wood could be considered safe with the amount of bend it is expected to make. Safety is probably the reason wood boards have now been replaced. I am familiar with bending wood as I make the odd archery bow. Even they do not have to cop the amount of punishment a spring board takes. It could be done in wood but never guranteed safe.

And that is probably why they now use trampolines and a foam filled pit for dry diving.
Imagine jumping off a dry board and landing on your head on a hard surface?????
The only trick I would use a dry board for would be the hand stand jumps. Pretty difficult to do a hand stand on a trampoline
AND they would not need to be springy anyway.
