Default Wooden chairs and floor boards

    Hi all
Just wondering if anybody has any great solutions to wooden chairs scratching the floorboards dilemma. Ive gone the sticky felt pads but they just don't last very long. Any ideas would be appreciated (except for tile or carpet the floor )
    Thanks

    Yep
My daughter just returned from two weeks in Japan. She brought back 'Chair Socks'. I thought how stupid, but they work a treat!

I found some rubber/plastic pads that have a little 'tenon' that plugs into a hole drilled in the feet. They've lasted 10 years on some stools that are used every day. I'll try to get a photo of one later today.

Back in 1998, we had our floors sanded and polished. The people who did it gave me a piece of black cloth-backed felt. I cut it into shapes to fit the bottom of the chair leg and glued it on with PVA (Selleys if I recall) and it is still there to this day. Great for collecting dog hair if you have an inside dog.

Bunnings sell a padded foot which is about 30mm diameter and it has a short length of thin walled tube which taps into the bottom of the legs. Ive been using them successfully for some years and they are very inexpensive. Can send pic if description not enough?

    Default Thanks

Thanks for all the suggestions. Sorry for not replying sooner but life suddenly got busy as it does. I ended up going with a plastic and felt "screw in" protector as Bunnings was the easiest place to source them from. I was worried that anything that just stuck on would eventually wear off. This seemed the most durable and fitted with the suggestions to use something with a plug or mortice type attachment. So thanks again to you all for responding.
