    Post Woodfast HYCO Saw Bench

Hi, Im not up on the know with wood working stuff.

Built by Woodfast Machinery in South Australia high quality item probably mid to late 6o's , unfortunately Woodfast no longer manufacture they just import low quality Chinese goods with their name on
would be well worth restoring probably just needs a good cleanup

I think it might need a bit more than that - the switch need replacing as the bakelite light/power switch doesn't really cut it these days.
If you are going to replace a switch I'd make it an NVR switch.
It also looks like it needs a new belt.

It looks pretty similar to a saw I owned between 1978 and a few years ago.
When I bought mine it was 12 years old so it's a 1960's vintage machine.
The motor on these saws is usually only 1.5 HP so they struggle to cut more than 50 mm thick wood.
I did a lot of work with mine including cutting bricks for the back patio!
About 10 years ago I turned mine into a metal cutting saw using thin kerf cutoff wheels and used it like that until I restored it back to wood cutting and gave it to my son a couple of years ago.

At the mens shed where I am a member, in the last few years we have been given one of these saws, and at least 5 other saws of similar style and vintage.
Even though they all ran OK, in all cases we moved them on, either free to other mens sheds, or exchanged for ~ two cartons of beer.
Given it needs a new switch and belt I'd say it's value is going to be closer to one carton.

There's a vintage machinery forum that can probably help you - does anyone know the name?

I can't imagine you will get much for it but you might get $20 or so from someone who wants to restore it.
