    Default Woodmaster benchsaw ?cost

Ive got to put in a price on a Woodmaster bench saw that I found yesterday in someones shed. It has 12'' blade 3 phase motor ?HP and cast iron bed. The badge on the side says made in Australia and Id guess it is 30 or 40 yrs old. It hasnt been used for a while. It only has a rip fench and the bench is about 600 x 700. How much are they worth?? anyone know these saws???

Steve, not familiar with WOODMASTER but it could be a Woodfast before a name change .
May I suggest you ring BILLS MACHINERY as they may be able to fill in some blanks for you as they have been around for years and have dealt in all manner of machinery.
Cost could be in the vicinity of 200-$300 depending on condition.these old machines have a reasonable retention of value!

    Default Saw bench

Thanks for the reply. Im in two minds as to the bench as I realise the blade doesnt tilt. However it looks very solid and I could do with a good saw.

    Talking Bench saw

Went down and put an offer of $230 on it. They didnt seem too keen on that so I wont hold my breath. If it dosnt come off Ill look at putting the money into a shopbuilt bandsaw. Ive got a spare 2hp motor and a mate with an engineering workshop that I play in now and again, when my wife lets me. I fell in love with the pics of the home made saw on this forum. Ill make it a little bigger and try for a tilt table.

    Steve,
IMHO. Sit down and work out what it will cost you to make your own saw. I think you will find the offer you made will be far less than building your own. Just check the table top for flatnees with a straight edge and that it has got a mitre slot. You can't beat solid cast iron machines and the older the better so long as they haven't been abused.
    Cheers,
    Rod
