Woodwork reference books?
Hi all,
Just wondering if there is a consensus on what top contenders are for a woodworkers reference book? Thought it would be good to get one to keep in the shed.
Has anyone got an opinion on one I have seen advertised recently (second hand) called "The Hamlyn Book of Woodworking"?
Also, specifically what good books are recommended for getting into veneering? I have a floorstanding loudspeaker project on the go at the moment and want to veneeer the MDF cabinets in Cherry wood veneer, but haven't any experience in veneering and seems it would be easy to make a pigs ear of doing!

Another good one is The complete woodworker ([ame=http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Woodworker-Bernard-Jones/dp/0898150221/ref=tmm_pap_title_0/187-9095935-7372125]Amazon.com: The Complete Woodworker (9780898150223): Bernard E. Jones: Books[/ame]). A very old book (1920's I think) but a lot of good coverage of basic traditional techniques.

Johnnz, check your local library. They're sure to have something and, if not, for $5 will order a book in for you.
I think I've got a couple of books on veneering but I've packed them away with all the other books.......We don't know how lucky we are......
