Thread: Woodworking Newbie -- Sketchup Help

Hello everyone!

I'm very new to woodworking... actually I've only made one project so far:

That's my little girl's easel. It was the only project I could get in before it turned to cold to go out to the shed.

So... now I'm ready to start another one. Well in the next couple months that is. Afterall, it's still -30 out there!

I have this idea in my head for a low loft bed, and I really need to get it down on paper. I suck at drawing so that's out of the question. Now I'm trying this Google Sketchup. I do like it and I'm very good and figuring out most computer programs... but this... I don't know.

Are there ready made components? Like 4x4 or 1x3 lumber? Or do I have to do each piece seperately on my own?

So I'd like a the simplicity of the Jysk frame then the pizzaz of the princess castle. But on top of it, I'd like stairs instead of a ladder.
