Great idea for an Aussie show! Can you make the DVD of the show available for general sale, unlike the NYW. I watched I few of the eps of the Milton workshop, the fella's were dead fish and boring to watch! Dose Gordon from the collectors now how use a table saw?
I'd like to see the average hobby woodworker quote covering cost and building process of either recycled or new hardwood project, like some of the things clawhammer dose, can a make a living be made or just extra pocket money? Were to sell, what to expect... Etc
Cheers Jason
P.S the great thing about the the show " gasoline " is glen is not a professional guy but you sure can relate to him. And he idolises the craftsmanship of great design and the place it has in our lives.

Would be good to see some of the things that ingenious wood working people outside the Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne get up to, with minimal resources. Might be hard to "dig" them out, but it would make good viewing, something like "Men and their Sheds". Jim

edit: Here is an idea - they can visit this event if filming by then https://www.woodworkforums.com/f11/ww...2014-a-170839/
subscribing to this and love the idea. I saw your post about the idea being accepted before i saw this, you covered all the ideas I had so at this time nothing to add. Being chased back to work so I will come back to this later with a more considered perusal of the entire thread.
brilliant idea, something I've been thinking should be here for many years. We dont want just these simple DIY things on better homes and gardens etc.

Im sure you've gone thru this with a fine tooth comb, these are some of the things I liked which you may have already acknowledged
I'd love to host this sort of show cause it is my passion. Sadly I probably lack the knowledge needed.
As for this old show mentioned it would be great with this proposal to have it available on line with maybe another 12 hours (split up into subjects) footage with each episode so people can look at what they want in more detail

I agree wholeheartedly with this. The projects and work need to cover high end stuff for those who like to do 20,000 coats of french polish thru to those who grab som sticks off the ground to make some bush furniture and everything in-between
This could include sharpening jigs etc too
It would be easy to ask for referrals on a forum such as this and once the show is up an running you could encourage listeners with a phrase something like, "Maybe you have some great ideas to share or know someone we should visit, please email at us ......"

creative juices flowing
Please pardon the pun re the heading ,I do see a lot of interest here, some really good suggestions which would according to the timeline proposed for said TV program/series may have to be judiciously planned to fulfil across the medium to satisfy all .
One suggestion if I may be so bold would be to perhaps work hand in glove with the TWW shows to cross promote both facets of the shows thereby reaching a wider sector in the community. To get the TWW promoters on board might not be bad thing in itself .It would not be as if they would have some control ,merely input in cross pollination of both mediums
A TV show on its own is something that will appeal obviously to those who have that desire to do something creative through manual arts moreover if those aspects of the art covers all interests proposed.

All valid comments and as stated at the beginning of your post much stuff has been considered and combed through.
At this stage it looks as if we are a 30 min Show so paring down and consolidating is the name of the game.
I've come up with a formula which I shall share after the first production meeting later this week if it is approved.
Here's hoping
Cheers
Steve

Prospective woodworker's tv show
Hi,
I've only recently renewed contact with this forum and found your thread post. To throw in my 'two bobs worth' of comment, I found the American Woodsmith TV series sometime ago via the internet. Based in Des Moines,Iowa USA. There have been several series over a period of time. Great value and practical. Consequently, I have downloaded 83 of the programmes to my iPad. Followed them right through the series and often refer back to a program for inspiration on techniques, fittings or jigs. I would gauge an Australian TV program in a similar vein would be a huge success and handled in the right way would be a commercial profit maker for the entrepeneurs.
