Woodworking Show virgin no more
Well after much anticipation Friday finally arrived & I was off to Adelaide for a first look at the woodworking show. I only had 1 day & this included a 10hr round trip from Mount Gambier. So like a kid in a lolly shop I was in there & let the spending start!
I came home with lots of things including a dovetail jig, a tenoning jig, some morticing chisels,a trend 1/4" router, a waterstone with carrier & guide, various small items, & a ML392 combo thicknesser from Leda for $825. Timbecon's website has these for $849 but at the show were $899...strange???.I had to go to Leda's warehouse to get the planer loaded on my ute & picked up a mobile base for it whilst there. The guys were very helpful.
Also got a Veritas LA smoother & a LA block plane from MIK. They didn't have the smoother on hand but I explained I was only in town for the day & they had one brought in from their shop inside an hour....good service. When I got home I played with these planes till about midnight reducing a piece of scrap pine to shavings....what beautiful tools they are
The only dissapointment was that carbatec didn't seem to have a lot on hand. I was after a delta scroll saw (they only had the big floor standing jobby there) & a CMT dado set which they didn't have either.
Next year I will go for the whole weekend I think...1 day just isn't enough.

You could always head east in October to the Melbourne WWW, why wait a year
6 hour drive? roughly and accommodation is cheap in the outer areas.
You could even look for a special at Crown and bring SWMBO too and let her loose while at the show.Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.
