I'm just planning one myself, looking for and old keg or 20kg gas cylinder to doctor up.
Put in a Chimbaley a daw, cupla vents in the bum and a mesh grate for the firea to set on and away you go.

I use a second hand 1.5hp reverce cycle air conditoner in my workshop as it helps filter the air and has little to no risk of fire, cool in summer and fairly cost efficient.
I want my fire in an enclosed carport out side the workshop where I do some of my bigger projects and keep my thicknesser, lathe, bandsaw etc

livin in the shire of knox here in melbourne they are really crackin down on woodfires - the emission standards are high and nieghbours sensitive so a gas or leckric powered contrivance is indicated - the aircon has attractions -
Al B what type of heater is yours?ray c
dunno what's more fun, buyin' the tools or usin' em'

Picked up an 11 bar oil heater with a fan (2400W) from bunnings for $110. Seems to be doing the trick today

I use a electric fan heater. It is the size of a box of cornflakes and stows away on the shelf. Only cost about $20 too.

I got an oil heater with fan from Big W a couple of weeks ago and so far it's been working well. I'm waiting for the real (-)degrees Canberra winter to hit though.

I got one of these halogen light heaters. Uses three 400W halogen globes independently switched (400-800-1200W).
No flames, exposed electric elements etc. Safe(r) with sawdust, flammable vapours etc.
Instant heat and it oscillates.
Just been using it to heat a bicycle frame I am spray painting (bloody melbourne weather)
Cheers<>
