    Default Front Entrance Door

    Hi,

I am looking to build a new front door, but I am not sure what timber to use.

I want to build a Frame & Panel door, Possibly out of an Aus Hard Wood. I like Jarah, but the minister for finance want's something lighter in colour.

Any ideas would be great, & Pics would be even better.

    Thanks

    Steve

I use New guinea rosewood for all my doors as its a class one timber and is lighter color ,an aussie timber you could use is ironbark, class one but very heavy..... will your door have much protection from the weather and sun as this can affect your perfomance of any timber choice. regards chowcini

The front door pretty much faces south. it is reasonably protected by a swall verander / alcove. it gets some late arvo sun, & a bit of rain in heavy winds.

The existing door is a cheap & nasty plywood covered door that has been there for about 30 odd years.

    THANKS

If it's lasted for thirty years it couldn't have been all that cheap and nasty I go along with NGR or maybe Cedar for the new door.
    Reality is no background music.
    Cheers John
