Workshop hire/open access workshop in Victoria?
Hi,
I'm currently working on a furniture project which involves quite a bit of machinery use (bandsaws, routers etc.). Problem is, the workshop where I normally work at is overcrowded at the moment and opening up a new shed for my own self is not really do-able.
Anyone have any info on an open access workshop of some sorts where I can rent machine time or something like that? I know about the Wood Design Centre at the meat markets but they just had a fire burn down the workshop and are apparently not accepting new members/renters. Also heard about Rum Springer? though have no idea what they specifically are, if anyone has any leads on that.
Preferably close to Melbourne area but have car will travel. Cheers.

Hey Horse,
There's not really much preferance about the location although ideally something within 30-45 minutes driving distance from the melbourne city (I live in North Melbourne). I'm not too fussed about which direction it is . Regarding the size, it's only a one-off furniture project (currently anyway) so a shed would be just fine, although the more machines the better i suppose? I mostly need access to a bandsaw and router. Sanding belts, planars, and etc. would just be an added bonus.
Oh and thanks for the link Tools, will check it out.

Thanks Stink,
I've already checked out Get Woodworkin. He says he stopped letting out spaces for hire because insurance prices were going off the roof. Was just there two days ago.
Thanks for the info anyway, I'm still looking for spaces if anyone knows any others.

Ok ..... thats a shame .... I have recommended his services often but will now have to stop. Last time I was there he had a couple of people making stuff but perhaps they are under a tutorial role as apposed to workshop hire.

What (overcrowded) shop do you currently work out of? I'm in N Melb and interested in meeting other ww, even if workshop spaces are hard to come by? I am a by-default Darksider, as I have neither space nor money for machines in my dinky little flat, so not so interested in electron-bashing, although I have been considering a router...
