Workshop hire in Melbourne?
Does anyone know if there's a place that offers workshop hire in Melbourne? Need access to table-saws, thicknessers, buzzers, routers, linishers, bandsaws, drillpresses etc. I moved here from Adelaide 8 months ago and am having woodwork withdrawl.
I know how to use all the tools correctly and if insurance is an issue I could look into getting my own...
Maybe such a thing doesn't exist and I've stumbled across a briliant business idea!!Jack of all trades, Professional of none.

There are several venues just like ours in Melbourne but I can't think of a single name off the top of my head. You will need to do a search under woodwork lessons/classes as a few of us welcome people in to use the workshop.

I think a spot that might be perfect for you is a shop run by Roy Green in Williamstown.
He has all the machines you are after and a few more...although not sure from memory whether he had a linisher. He also can store your projects (within reason).
Details are
Roy Green
239 Kororoit Creek Road
Williamstown
ph 9399 1963.
Roy also has quite a good little shop with a good range of tools and is able to provide instruction/training if required. He is also open on Saturdays from around 10.30 to 2.30.
Not affilliated, just a satisfied customer.

What about joining a "men's shed"? I have joined the Knox Wood Working Workshop. And am learning Turning. They have heaps of tools for everyones use, and lots of differant interest groups. You have to talk to a lot of old blokes though. The place is open about 50 hours per week and only $50 per year. (With an extra $50 joining fee the first year.)

I'm in Clifton Hill, but don't mind travelling a wee bit....Williamstown might be a wee bit out of the way.
Its for guitar making so a lot of the work involves hand tools and I just need somewhere to do it. The big power tools are mainly for making jigs etc....hopefully I can find something, might have to contact a Tafe or something and do a brief course to earn useJack of all trades, Professional of none.

Northern TAFE might be worth investigating for courses.

Uuuuuuuuuum! What about this place? (In another part of this forum.) It says they do courses. Maybe they will do workshop hire too?
