Default Yo! Laminating plywood ain't going to plan

    Yo woodworkers!

I've recently started getting into some woodwork to pretty up an Ikea kitchen I'm working on - specifically laminating 18mm thick birch ply with high pressure laminate and furniture linoleum to create cover panels and cabinet fronts. It's not quite going to plan... How do I clean contact adhesive/cement from the edge of 18mm thick (~3/4") birch ply?

I'm trying to clean up the edge so I can apply some Osmo Polyx hardwax oil and leave it exposed. I hit it with a random orbital sander using a variety of grits all the way down to 80 grit - but this has caused delamination

How do I tackle this, and what is the best way to fix up the delamination?

    Some photos would help.
Sounds like things got a bit warm and the contact let go.
Might have been better to have used a handplane or chisel.
Build oversized and trim to size on a tablesaw?

again with out pics its hard to know what your talking about.

but 3m 700 adhesive remover i've found works well for removing spray adhesive... as its actually meant for cleaning up 3m's spray adhesive.

Best way is to eliminate the problem from the outset, i.e. build oversized and then trim to size. If that is not an option then place some painters tape on the raw edge before applying adhesive to the faces. That way over runs and drips will only attach to the tape.

You could trim it off in any event. You would only need to remove a fraction of a millimetre. If your doors/drawers etc aren't inset then you likely would not notice.
