Similar at my place too. . I just work the smoothing plane at a faster rate to keep me warm

In my former 'professional' life in central France, a good winters day could be -14. My shop was an old stone barn with no doors.
On those days the apprentice was made to do nothing else but feed the wood burner with sawdust until it glowed red and he lost all exposed hair and gained a crispy coating.

In case you are short of fasteners, and no delivery for a few months, it is a good opportunity to practice joins using dovetails or dowels.
