Default The best Zero Clearance insert!

    Hi everyone,

This is my new video about a Zero Clearance insert. But not a normal one!
It is very different from what we know and I think it is a improvement for everyone.

Hope you will find it interesting and enjoy watching it.

    Best regards,

    Dennis

Dennis, my answer to side deflection is a piece of something stood up close to the blade. If drop down panel was fixed to the side of the overhead guard it could be lowered to achieve the same thing. Excuse the rusty table top, high humidity, rain and lack of use is my excuse. An excellent video BTW with the best demo of why a cabinet needs air to make the dust extraction work that I have seen. Anyone who thinks a cabinet must be sealed should watch this and take note of what happens.

    Clever Idea Chris.

I have to say that I do not think my insert is the solution for your dust extraction. It just helps a bit.
I found my overhead blade guard the best solution to keep the dust onder control. When I use this (95% of the time) I do not have a dust issue.

    Thanks for your comment.

Every time I see one of these videos of people using a tablesaw with no guard, no riving knife, and the blade protruding just above the workpiece I get a strange chilling sensation up my back.

I will add to my comments above that if the ZCI becomes totally covered by the material being cut then it cannot draw air through it but by then the in cabinet and above the blade DE will handle the dust and debris coming off the blade. Without the above blade DE you may as well not waste the electricity and purchase price the DE costs.

It is usually in my fingers but sometimes to demonstrate and prove a concept or even to do a through cut it is necessary. As pointed out by Dennis it is not something he usually does.
