An azebiki and mentori kanna
Last month a guy in Portland, Oregon, USA was selling off his collection of several hundred Japanese hand tools. A range of values from all used up to collector's items that he had acquired over several trips to Japan working occasionally as a carpenter there. He is about a two hour drive away so worth an afternoon to go visit since a chance to inspect and buy used Japanese tools in the USA is rare. He was a nice guy, too, and his prices I thought were fair. My budget was limited but I did come home with these two items. A small hand forged azebiki and a mentori kanna (straight, not skewed blade, but still nicely made).
