Default The making of a Japanese Chisel

I felt people who enjoyed long videos of craftsmen Doing Their Thing would get enjoyment from this video.

The first bit is an intro (Japanese only) but the rest is the making plus a good look a the machines and processes.

    Informative!

This one is a Kanna. Process is not dissimilar.

Dont be scared off by the Japanese-only text and commentary. It is completely understandable what is going on.

    Default Japanese chisels.

    Hi Martin here,

I have a set of 10 Oire Nomi Suminagashi chisels in a box.
My father bought them 20 years ago and they have never been used.
My father passed away 15 years ago and i kept them. The are truly
beautiful and have the lovely wood grained effect to the Jigane. They
have red oak handles with hand forged striking hoops.

    Martin.
