Default Japanese waterstone - which side is which?

I have a japanese waterstone which is double sided. It looks just like this one...

Dual Sided Japanese Water Stone [KDS/1000/6000] - $91.00 : Macwood International

Problem is, the markings are rubbing off, (I can still see the japanese markings, but they don't mean anything to me), and I can't remember which side is 1000 and which side is 6000. Anyone know?

Dark brown side is 1000, light cream is 6000.
Should be easy to tell by just rubbing the back of a chisel on each side - the 1000 side will give a satin finish, and the 6000 a more polished finish.

Awesome, thanks! My chisels are now super sharp again. And I've warned my wife not to cut her fingers off with our knives.
