Default How to buy from Taunton Store

I have just tried unsuccessfully to buy a download Guide to SketchUp from Taunton. Their required field for State only allows for the USA and its territories despite the fact that they are continually sending me emailed offers. Is this a parochial bit of ignorance or is there another reason?

Has anyone encountered this and how might I get around it?

I have and I forget how I got around it. They tend to be responsive to emails as they like money sso I would go that way and see what they say. The guy that does their tutorials Dave Richards has got at least one video on Youtube and that you might watch and there are heaps more as well but DR is acknowledged as the best from memory, the only failure was me unfortunately for easons out of his control.

This guy is good, more how he does it than a tutorial, this page has heaps of links to his videos SketchUp | Jays Custom Creations

As far as Taunton are concerned, there is nothing but a void outside the USA 12 mile limit.........they have heard rumours of other strange continents beyond the horizon, but are still awaiting proof of life out there.

I've had similar issues with them in the past. They have missed out on quite a few $$$ from me over the years, all down to their hopelessly US-centric website ordering systems. Probably the worst example of an inward-looking US website I've come across.

Good luck trying to convince them you exist

I ordered some books and vids for the mens shed last year and had no problem ordering - just problems in getting the items.

I Just checked their website again and faux ordered something to see what was going on and it seemed to work OK.
You have to select Australia as the country first - this sends the state box blank and you type in the AUS state and hit the "Get a quote" button - which works out the shipping.

That aside, of the order of 6 items only 3 arrived and an accompanying note said the others were out of stock - it didn't say that on the website.
Fortunately they only billed me for the 3 items.
I sent an email asking me to email me when the others were in stock but haven't heard from them since.
One of the items that did not arrive did show up as out of stock on their website, one was pulled off the website, but the other one continues to show as available.

this is how most US based (or centric) eCommerce sites work.

F+W Media -- the folks behind Popular Woodworking -- has US pre-selected on the alphabetical country list, which is an improvement from when US then Canada were the only choices.

I subscribe to a particular magazine and it comes in PDF format.
One didn't arrive, so I emailed asking for a replacement and received a reply saying it was out of stock ...
