end grain
Has anyone come across an end grain pattern that you can use to differentiate between mortise and tenons say in a detail?
I have downloaded the new libraries and havent come across one yet. (I'm just getting to grips with the program)
Cheers.

Dont know if this is any help to you BT. I havent come across a texture that you can use as you describe. But I did come across a materials library with a good selection of timbers in it (unfortunately no Aussie timbers though)

To use this.
1. Extract the library (.zip) onto your computer somewhere.
2. Open Sketchup (I use 6)
3. Tools—> Paint Bucket
4. Click on the arrow that brings up “Open or create a Library”
5. Browse to the location you extracted the library above and voila.
cheers

I did this one in Word a few years ago before Sketchup was around. I just used stone or sand or something that looked a bit like end grain. Maybe you could do something similar?

Thanks Guys but still not what I'm after. But that library is worth saving thanks Brown Dog.
At the moment I'm exploding the joint and drawing arcs and radiating lines - trouble is with the rradiating lines some are fine and some are bold or a different point.
Bleedin frustrating. Also from watching those tutoral videos made for version 5 they describe how you can put a skin on something to make it solid via tools. How do youn do this in version 6.
If you have made the slightest mistake with your 2d drawing you sometimes wont get it to close to a 3d solid - i'm spending so much time tracing back to find the fault when I should just be able to tell it to pull its head in and do what I want.
How do I do that?
