big problem is time ..... after winning a job pretty much all the customer's want a 3d design or design ! which resulting in me having

There a several programs that will help you design kitchens although they have a fairly narrow focus. A nice alternative would be to look at SketchUp since it is much more flexible. I use it to design everything from built-in cabinets to free standing pieces of furniture. There is a very powerful plugin for SketchUp specifically for designing kitchens and baths. It's called CabinetSense. You can also find a long list of cabinet components in the 3D Warehouse that are free to use.

I prefer to work with components I make myself and find it very fast. In any case, it's possible to create an accurate cutlist from the drawing and make everything from proposal drawings to construction documents from the same drawing.

"Folks say that if you listen real close at the height of the full moon, when the wind is blowin' off Nantucket Sound from the nor' east and the dogs are howlin' for no earthly reason, you can hear the awful screams of the crew of the "Ellie May," a sturdy whaler Captained by John McTavish; for it was on just such a night when the rum was flowin' and, Davey Jones be damned, big John brought his men on deck for the first of several screaming contests." Another I've heard a bit about recently is Sketchlist - Sketchlist
Similar to Sketchup and you can download a 14 day trial for free.
There are Home - $59.99, Shop - $199.99 and Pro versions - $749.99 for both Windows and Mac.

I assume the measurements can be done in metric in Sketchlist, even though the intro video talks in imperial.
The Pro version currently has a $500 discount.
