SketchUp 7 - 2nd try on first priject - Where to from here?
Hi all,
My 2nd try on my first SketchUp 7 Project.
(my first try was to build as if just purchased the preecut boards from the timber yard.
i.e. tried to create 19mmx432mmx1720 board and make it a component.
then copy and align x 4 accross and down etc.
Far too much mucking about getting everything to line up etc.)
1st drew 1720(x) x 432(y) rectangle
pulled to 1720 high
create Measure guides from top downward 19mm and from left to right 19mm
Then from those two measure guides
create Measure guid from top downward 406mm and from left to right 406mm
Then created rectangle from cross of the 19,19 down to the cross of 406,406
This rectangle was pushed to erase for a empty 16"x16" (406mm x 406mm) cube.
Couldn't work out how to duplicate the empty cube 4 accross and 4 down.
Spent to much time trying to work it out.
So just mesaured 19 then 406 three more times accross and three more times down.
Then created the other 15 rectangles.
And pushed each one to erase.
Attached is the project so far.
I'll try to push all the internal shelves back by 1" (24mm)
And raise the sides at the top by 1.5" (38mm).
And extend the sides down by 3" (76mm) and try to add a kick board.
And see how I go.
If anyone knows how to duplicate the empty cube as discribed, I'd like to know. Thanks,
Barry G. Sumpter

Easier than I thought.
Had to delete the top left cube cutout component I had made in my first post.
Just recreated another rectagle over it and pushed to erase it.
I don't know what that will do to my cutlist.
Just drew 9 19mm lines to section off the internal shelves from the four outside wall frames
and pushed 25mm inward.
the top end of the left and right sides was the same
just drew measure lines 19mm in to section off the sides and pulled up by 38mm.
the bottom was the same drew measure lines 19mm in to section off the sldes and pulled down by 76.
And created yet another measure line back from the front by 25mm(1")
and drew a rectable on the bottom 19mm deep accross the entire width of the inslide length
and pulled down to match the bottom height of the sides.
I think I just got lucky this snapped together so quickly on my second try.
My first took about an hour of video research and trial and error for me to decide it was taking too long.
All and all SketchUp is pretty freakin cool.
Now off to find that cutlist addon to see what it produces.
bazThanks,
