Live Theatre (The Arts)
(There isn't a section for it but I know that there are a few people who have had a bit to do with it)
I do lighting for the Malanda Theatre Company & tonight we took two 'One Act Plays' to the One Act Play Festival in Cairns.
There were 5 awards, we won 3 of them.
Live theatre is a buzz.... the last play (one of ours) finished at about 9:30pm & the awards were announced at around 10pm & we packed up & drove home (more than an hour) & here it is, almost 1am & I'm still bouncing off the walls.
If you are looking for a new hobby with a good social life, try it out, if you can't act, there is always a job on the crew doing something, lighting, sound, painting, set building, front of house, bar staff, bouncer... I can recommend it.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Congratulations Cliff. It is good when you get recognition for all the work that goes in to putting on a production.

Well done Cliff.
Live theatre & musicals are great fun. Its a great buzz every time the show goes on. I love all aspects of the scene, the planing and prep and then of course the performances.
Seriously though, 3 out of 5 awards!!!!
You guys rock.
any stills shots from the plays?

Well done Cliff, on getting the awards. I also used to work in theatre (onstage as an actor, backstage as a mechanist / flyman and management as a stage manager), and worked on more than 250 professional productions in theatres all over Sydney and also a few national tours. But the biggest buzz I got was working on the small community productions where everyone was there for the love of the theatre rather than being there as a paid employee doing a job.
I have been out of the industry for a while now, but i constantly think of getting back into it, as the thrill of the opening night never really leaves you.
For those of you who have never been involved, give it a go - as already mentioned - there are always crew positions available.
Again, congrats Cliff.

Congratulations, Cliff.
Even without awards, stagecraft can be a buzz. I was on a stage crew in HS; all before occupational safety. Climbing uncaged ladders to adjust pulley blocks in the fly galley was a rush.

We don't take photos during the play but we do have some posed & some candid shots taken during rehearsals for promos... I'll have to get some from our publicity officer.
And thanks all for the congrats... I'm still telling everybody about it.Cliff.

Well done Cliff. We used to get along to some of the local plays, but have not been for a while now. Lots of fun in a small theatre.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."
