4WD needed
The new job means I don't need a work ute any more so I want to sell her and buy a wagon. The Navara is a good bus but my aching and ancient bones would really like something with a bit plusher suspension.
Suggestions needed for a 4wd wagon for 15k or under. Must be a real 4wd not a soft roader and I definitely want a manual as I am a MAN, not a girl or even a girly-man!

The 4WD's I've driven with the most supple suspension would have to be Range Rover or Land Rover Discovery. Their long travel, all-round coil suspension makes them very capable Off-Road as well. Depends how new you want to go, but a quick search on carsales.com.au currently shows 31 Discoverys under $15K, 2000 build and younger, so up to 10yrs old. And amongst them you get a choice of 5 door or 3, V8 or TDi, Auto or Manual. As for Range Rover, there's One... for more choice you either have to go a little older, or a little dearer. At the 15 year range the choice jumps to 33.
Now most either love them or hate them, depending on what they've heard or experienced, but I would go and test drive one first, even without the intent on buying (although you'd have to convince the car yard otherwise). That way you can compare against other makes with their suspension too.
And don't discount interstate vehicles either. A one-way last minute airline ticket is pretty cheap these days, for the right car.
I reckon this would have to be the pick of the bunch in the Rangies; http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...d=11F507D17404Too many projects, so little time, even less money! Are you a registered member? If you dont like british then you should be able to pick up a good petrol 80 series landcruiser or GQ Patrol for less than 15k. Coil springs are very comfortable and both are very reliable.

Thanks Sprog, that has cleared up a mystery. I saw one of those X240 the other day and had no idea what it was. I didn't recognize the badge and i thought 'The Great Wall" was a catchy model name
And Woodnut, the best car i ever owned was an older series Toyota Prado. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if i needed a 4WD.Those were the droids I was looking for.
