7 Seater Ford Territory
Hi Guys,
I started a thread about a Ford Territory a fair while back and had alot of helpful advice. thread here https://www.woodworkforums.com/f116/f...rritory-94255/ but because of it's age I cannot reply to it.
After all this time we've decided to get a Ford Territory. We have test driven a couple and they are lovely to drive.
I was worried my wife wouldn't like driving it because of its size but she says she didn't find it that bad, so we've decided it is the car for us.
There are a couple of different types to choose from and I'm just wondering if anyone could help us in deciding that please.
I don't know whether we should go for the AWD or the 2 Wheel drive etc....
I'd really appreciate some help.
Thanks in advance
Geoff

The only drawbacks of AWD over RWD are a moderate increase of fuel consumption and another extra couple of bits that will need maintenance.

Friend has a RWD Territory, which he likes, but he complains about high fuel consumption.
Driving and handling is excellent, it should be it uses the same "chassis" as the Ford Falcon station wagon.
The engine runs very well on direct injected LPG, which will save a lot of money if you are going to keep it for a while and do more than 20,000Km pa.

I'm on my 4th Territory now. (Company car - and they change them over at 40,000 km or 2 years).
Obviously, I'm happy with the vehicle. Fuel economy is around 12 litres/100 km with a mix of city and motorway driving. Haven't had any problems with any of them.
If you're getting a brand new one, you can get some factory fitted options that might be useful to you. I get the bluetooth kit installed for linking to my mobile. It mutes the radio when the phone rings, and allows you to answer/disconnect a phone call by pushing one button just under the radio. Works well for me.
I also get the hard fold-back cover for the luggage compartment. It's considered an optional extra, but I think it shold be mandatory. Keeps things in the boot area nice and secure while driving.
I also get as many airbags and other safety stuff as possible. You don't need to go to the Ghia model to get these. You can add them as options for much less than the price of the Ghia.
Hope that helps.
