Car stereo
Hi all,
I want to change the car stereo in my little holden barina as it cr@ped itself. I know how to change a stereo in a car as I've done it before, but the wiring in the barina aren't real long and to to successfully put a the new stereo in I'm gonna need to extend the wires by adding to them. I'm thinking of using some thick speaker wire I have - Just wondering is that OK or is there a certain kind of wire I would need to use??
Thanks
Geoff

If you don't want radio it would probably be cheaper to just buy an Ipod - you can get leads on Ebay to hook it in to the car speakers.
The smaller Ipods are less than $100 and small enough that you could velcro it to the dash to remove when you park.
The CD player in my BA Falcon is playing up and this is what I will do.

Yes speaker wire will handle the power, just make sure you solder and heat shrink them properly.

New head units usually come with a bit of a wiring loom with them - it might be long enough with that.
