Default The Not to distant future of car tyres

These tires are made in South Carolina , US A ..

    SEE THROUGH TIRES
Radical new tire design by Michelin.
    The next generation of tires.
They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.

Yes, those are 'spoke' like connections to the inner part of the tire from the outside tread 'wrap!' The next picture shows how odd it looks in motion...

Makes you wonder how the ride feels doesn't it?

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.
The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these.
Just think of the impact on existing technology:
A . no more air valves...
    B. no more air compressors at gas stations...
    C. no more repair kits...
    D. no more flats...
These are actual pictures taken at the South Carolina plant of Michelin.

Saw the email with this going around a couple of weeks back - the big question is how do I let the tyres down for a bit more traction on the 4WD?

1st time I saw these tyres was about 5 years ago maybe more.

The problems with these will be

Picking up stones and hurling them out from between the gaps instant kill

picking up sticks and damage to body work and as above (Think chariots of old with swords on the wheels)

Children getting stuck in them (they'll find away) pets too.

How are these gaps any different from the many and varied gaps one sees in mag wheels?

I can't see any images of the tyres in this thread, but if they're the spokey-looking things, then they've been around for at least 10-15 years. I recall receiving a release about them when they were being tested. There was a video of a car (BMW?) fitted with them hitting a kerb, square-on, at 30 mph and it just floated over the kerb.
    .
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

    Woodwould,
I can't see any pictures either, only boxes with red crosses.
Can anyone tell us how to show the pictures?
Thanks to anyone who can help. Keith.

Click on Master Splinter's link and all will be revealed.
The other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".
