We've got in touch with a diesel mechanic whose coming out tomorrow to help me, or rather I will be there to help him Very bloody nice of him to do so. Today I karchered the whole thing and left it to dry, nice and clean for him tomorrow. That's all I did on the tractor, then I got onto boxing up a new floor in the hay shed ready for concrete later in the week.

I learned the tractor doesn't have glow plugs today. I also learned lots of other interesting stuff now I have the operators manual in hand.

    Cheers
    Michael

Good news! The tractor lives! Tony couldn't get the injectors out so he cracked the exhaust valves a little with some 10c pieces and we wound it over by hand and then turned it over with the starter. We refitted the fuel tank and bled the lines and kicked it in the guts. It started on one cylinder first, very tentatively, then two cylinders and finally three and pretty soon it sounded as sweet as ever! Almost brought a tear to my eye. Now it's just a matter of getting some new filters and cycling through a few oil changes, which is a bummer as the main transmission swallows 35l at a time and all up there are 8 different oil reservoirs to change!
Thanks to all those who contributed to the thread

Edit, almost forgot the most important part. A big thank you to Tony from CORINDA MOWERS, an absolute top bloke giving up his time on Australia day. If you need repairs or something new, I highly recommend you give him a call.

    Cheers
    Michael

Here's some photos of the tractor under water and also some photos that perhaps give an idea of the sheer volume of water. Until I saw the photos I just couldn't imagine/remember the volume that came through.

photo1 Way down the bottom corner, arena fence already part submerged. The stable the horse is in later went under waist deep.

photo2 Paddock already well under, see fence posts and take note of the power pole in the background as a reference.

    photo4 getting deeper

    photo5 Arena has gone

photo6 High water. The power pole is almost under

photo7 Looking back from the other end of the club at high water

photo8 A bit further down the path, there's the power pole in the background

photo9 Note the blue gum, forks just starting at top of photo

photo10 The same blue gum in the background upper left. Water up to the fork.

photo 11 Poor tractor - now going well. Plastic jumps lashed together and floating.

photo12 After the flood. Two feed bins upturned inside one of the girl's sheds. All the other sheds were similarly askew, but the feed bins just needed a hose and dry and they were fine.
