    Default Power Window Problem

The car is an 04 BA Falcon, for years the drivers power window has been baulky, stopping part way up in two spots.
Usually jiggling the glass would get it moving again but today it stopped completely, after almost 5 minutes of pullling it up by hand while pressing the switch I managed to get it closed but I'm not game to open it again in case it won't close.
When it stops I can't hear the motor running so I'd be inclined to think it's the motor rather than the mechanism but I really am just guessing.
Anyone else had a similiar problem, able to offer any advice, I need to fix it (I smoke so I need the window open) but I can't afford to pay someone to do it.
    Cheers
    Paul

Best thing to do would be to go to a wrecker and get a replacement winder assy. to many variables to give an accuate cause. could be anything from a faulty Circuit Breaker to stripped gears in the drive assy.

For quick checks, you could try clean the window rocker switch contacts and make sure they're contacting, or more likely try lube the window tracks with silicone spray or maybe graphite powder as they can gum up and run tight especially going up. If it's just gummy tracks and the motor is overheating trying unsuccessfully to push it up then it will cutout which might be why you don't hear it running. But could also be a problem with the motor, or wiring harness connector to the motor, or the regulator, or the regulator cable is stretched. You can pick up new regulators and motors for under $100 and used ones for a lot less.

As said above 90% it is the rocker switch very common problem, other common problem is the regulator cable, stretched, frayed, needs lubricating you should
spay the glass glass tracks every 12 months at least with silicone
