Well they do look somewhat similar, I mean they are pretty much the same colour give or take a few shades.
Reality is no background music.

Thing is, all car makers worldwide buy the rights to use XG, ZF etc. and for example (can't think of the name for it) and they have the rights to that useage for a period of time and no-one can infringe upon that.
This may well be the case for Ford v. Ferrari

Model designation like this would come under trade mark legislation or it's equivalent around the world. The general intent of such legislation is to prevent one party disadvantaging another by selling a product bearing the registered trade mark of another. The products don't have to be similar or blatant knock offs, but they do need to be available for purchase. Go to your local Ferrari dealer with a suitcase of cash and ask to put a deposit on a Ferrari F150. Provided Ferrari don't sell them, they are in the clear.

Ford worldwide put alot of investment into their 'F' series over alot of years. Should be interesting to see how this one pans outs. It's not like Ferrari are a tin-pot little company trying to cash in on the success of the 'F series, then again, you'd think Ferrari's legal eagles would have done their homework.
I know Peugot will savagely defend any motoring designation with an "O" (Oh) in the middle.Too many projects, so little time, even less money! Are you a registered member? Hi Yonnee,
Yes it gets quiet amusing.
Ford claim Ferrari are trying to cash in on their F150's good reputation and in a separate action are suing Ferrari for $100,000.00 for cyber squatting because they registered the F150 web site.
Ferrari say it" all a mistake their car has always been the F150th Italia and F150 was just an abbreviation and hence forth the full name will be used and have changed their web site accordingly.
I have not heard Ford's response.
I would think having one's F1 confused with a pick up truck (ute for us Auzies) would be more damaging to one's reputation than the other way round.
As for Peugot, I remember Porsche having to change the name of a model in the 70s, I wonder how Boeing got away with the 707 and March engineering with their 1970 range of racing cars they used 70 for the year followed by the number of it's FIA classification ie 701 for F1 and 702 for F2 etc.
As William Shakespeare would say "what's in a name?"
