I don't suppose I am unique in being captivated by the daredevil madness of the record breakers, but some things stick in your mind more than others. One of those is the fastest vehicle around Germany's Nürburgring. It is not just that the Porsche 919 Hybrid became the lap record holder with a 5m 19s lap, but the way it did this, smashing the previous record by 45 seconds! The onboard camera brings home how fast everything comes up. You would have to drive by intuition as there is no time to think. The fastest production vehicle is the Mercedes Benz AMG One at 6m 30s.

I have posted the next video before somewhere on the Forum, but I don't recall where so here it is again. This time at The Isle of Man TT races. It takes you on board Peter Hickman's lap record, again, back in 2018 on his BMW. Being on a motorcycle the camera reaches some crazy angles and the big thing is Peter Hickman's very eloquent commentary dubbed after, but as if he is talking from the bike. If you suffer from vertigo, takes the pills in good time before watching and try not to fall off your chair.

You could be forgiven for thinking you are watching a virtual video game, but you are not: It is for real. Average speed was 135mph for the 37.73mile long course done in 16m 42s. The mountain section is longer than the whole Bathurst 1000 course just to give some perspective. Quite a lot of corners to remember.

In the 2023 race he beat his own lap record upping it to 136mph. I saw that he reached a top speed of 202mph during the race.

The intention of this thread is to create some video links of outstanding performances. It could be of individual races such as Pike's Peak hill climb or a world speed record of some description. I will leave it up to Forum members to contribute.
