I made some little "pocket dams" up out of gaffer tape around each spot and filled the dams with ordinary vinegar. Nothing happened for the first 20 minutes but then with a few minutes of light stippling using small bevel liner brush it started to come off - I changed the vinegar out 3 times and repeated the stippling and it was all off in about an hour with no visible paint damage.

Now there are two spots on the caravan to remove.

Having worked in the past in Body shops(Smash repairs), I’m surprised you were able too get the stuff off with out pulling the clear coat, well done.

I doubt there's any clear coat on my 2008 Van

We used to hit the panel with a brick hammer to get it off my car.
