Replacing Rear Wheel Bearings - BA Falcon
Hei guys,
Need to replace the rear wheel bearings on a solid axle BA falcon.
I have the factory workshop manual and access to a press at work but I've never used a press before.
Anyone able to offer any advice, is it straight forward to press the bearings on to the axle.
Cheers
Paul

OK, I asked a mate who is ford nut, His response follows:=
if he needs to ask, he needs to be supervised!
ba wagons & utes are well known wheel bearing killers.... most people now put the earlier ef el diffs in them.... Ba housings are weak as !
Maybe that helps.

I can't complain, the bearings on this thing have been noisy for 3 years and 52k - and that includes a drive up from Sydney to various parts of country Qld including Townsville where I am now.
But I figure it's time when the bearing noise starts drowning out the stereo.
I want to do themself mainly cos money is very tight, but I''ll see what the local mechanic would charge - I couldn't see it taking more than an hour a side for someone with the right gear and knowledge.

Try youtube for some 'how to' videos, they may give you confidence to do this job and save some $$.

Just checked youtube - nothing.
The bearing retaining collars have to be removed from the axle with a hammer and chisel (that is what the ford factory workshop manual says) which will be some stuffing about, so if I can do everything myself and just take the axles somewhere to get the new collars pressed on I can keep the costs low.
