Default Reverse Camera for Hilux workmate

Toyota is having a plate clearance for Hilux, and I am thinking about buying the base model workmate. Unfortunately, It doesn't come with a reverse camera. can someone recommend an aftermarket installer that would install the camera without invalidating the warranty?

Ask if the dealer could install a reverse camera. Very often these extras are high profit for the dealer, and if they do it, it should not effect the warranty.

Most dealerships get outside accessory fitters to fit things like that. Work mate bought a brand new Toyota Troopie about two years ago. Asked the dealer to fit a reversing camera. It stopped working so he took it back under the 5 year warranty. The dealer wouldn’t honour the warranty as the accessory fitter that fits their accessories had used a Jaycar camera - not a Toyota unit. Make sure it’s covered under warranty and get that written down.
If their fitting non genuine and it’s not covered under their warranty, you can save a heap having it fitted outside of the dealership.

I'm not sure why anyone would think a third party install of a reverse camera would invalidate any warranty. It'd have to be a real hack job...but you are talking about probably the easiest chassis to do the install on. They may try to deny your warranty, but that is not the same as your warranty being invalidated. They would only be successful if it were for a very specific thing...like the installer shorted the radio or something like that. They couldn't void the whole vehicle warranty.

Either ask the dealer to fit one or just go to a reputable installer and have one fitted. It has no bearing on your warranty other than if the accessory you had fitted caused the issue you are wanting to claim under warranty
I heavily accessorise my vehicles with over 20k of aftermarket gear and have had zero issues with having any warranty issues sorted by the dealers.

To add to Lappa's comments, you can bet money on the fact that if it does break the salesman who sold it with all the assurances and standing on a stack of bibles won't be working there when it breaks.

Just to clear up what seems to be a misconception - there was no problems or effects on the warranty of the vehicle as such, the dealership just would not cover the camera itself as it was not a Toyota part and as a Jaycar camera only had 12 months warranty and it was over 12 months old, it was no longer covered . It seems strange to me as to why a non genuine item was fitted when the reversing camera option was ordered by my work mate when he ordered the vehicle. It took six months from order to delivery so it’s not as though it was a rush order.

When we ordered the Rav4, they tried like blazes to get us to buy a front and rear dash cam system at a sale price of $1400. The salesman said it was fully covered under Toyota warranty for 5 years but after my mate’s experience one would have cause for doubt.
It was an outside company that fitted the units and having a finger in the trade I could have had the same unit fitted at my place by the same company for $649 BUT it only had a 12 month warranty. That is why I said if they offer a 5 year warranty on an outside accessory, get the warranty in writing.

I've told by the dealer that a reverse camera can be installed for $750 and would be part of the new car warranty. I'll ask for it in writing if I make the purchase.
