Ahhh, the much maligned AU. It's biggest problem was it was years ahead of its time. Looks more at home on the road 10 years on than when it was released.

No, they look pretty good where they are in the wrecker's yards.

That's what they said about the P76, but they're both still ugly

I too had a 'sit up and beg' Anglia (along with the Popular and Prefect versions) and an 'Angle-box', and I loved them all.

    Oh yeah, Hummer and Harleys.

    Thumbs up

Don't have a photo but does anyone remember tha Austin Mayflower??

The Nissan Cedric Personal 6 was a bit iffy.

In Brasil there was an ugly beast called a Gurgel. It's redeeming feature was a VW engine.

And what about the Ford Edsel?

I think the Mayflower was actually a Triumph Mayflower and not an Austin Arthur. Are you thinking of the Austin Atlantic? The
Triumph Mayflower was around in the early 50's in the UK not sure about over here in Australia.

This was the Austin A90 Atlantic. 16hp engine manufactured around the same time as the Triumph. The picture shows a left hand drive but they were a few running around the UK but not really a popular for the home market for obvious reasons.

This was an interesting little car, the Nash Metropolitan also manufactured in the UK but was never sold in the UK but made for export only by the British Motor Corporation (Austin) at the time. It was fitted with a 1500cc motor which was used in a lot of the small BMC cars manufactured for the home market at the time. Everyone thought it was a beautiful car when it was produced because the cars made for the home market were not as flash or colourful in design or colours at that time. Looking at it now, its ugly.
