A3 Printer for CAD
Need to get an A3 printer for CAD (building plans). Don't want M/F
Laser would be good but a little too expensive atm.
Looking at Canon iX4000 ($459.00) but can't find any reviews on it's CAD performance.
Anyone have any experience with the Canon, or suggest suitable alternative?Traba non folis arborem aestima

I just bought an Epson A3 printer a few weeks ago to replace a HP A3 printer which I use for CAD plots at home. I also have a multi-function Canon. I can recommend both Canon and Epson, but I wouldn't touch another HP.
Any printer I've come across is capable of plotting CAD drawings, so choose one that suits your budget and meets your aproval..

Personally, I'd buy a mono A3 laser
$899 for one of these

or $1153 for one of these

or $1362 for one of these

IMO once you've used a laser, you don't want to go back to an expensive injetLast edited by ian; 3rd June 2009 at 09:52 PM. Reason: added links

Thanks for the input guys.
Ian: I would go for laser but budget restraints, maybe further down the track. Plans don't use a lot of ink anyways and might be doing some colour presentations too.
Woodwould: What model Epsom did you get, and what price?Traba non folis arborem aestima

I bought an Epson 1410. I don't remember exactly what I paid as I made several other purchases at the same time, but $640 rings a bell.

Love cannons, tried hp thinking I was buying something good. Available free to anyone who wants it. Back to cannon now.
Lucky for me I'm working in a drawing office nowdays and have access to a0 roll feed plotters. Very handy for boat plans.
There are usually second hand plotters on ebay for passable prices. Check currency of spares though...I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.

Out HP plotter at work does quite well. Of course you probably don't need to plot 1140mm wide though.

Got my Canon iX4000 ($454.00) today, breeze to setup.
Prints A3 from AutoCad beautifully.
