The signature is not stored with your posts, it is stored in your profile and collected from there, same for some other settings (eg title and avatar).

I think we are at crossed purposes here. I was referring to the default signature on the iPad not the forum signature.

When I deleted the iPad signature it stopped appearing on all aspects I was using the iPad for.

As you have probably guessed I'm not a fan of intrusive or default type advertising especially if I have paid good $$ for the item. I even remove the stickers etc on new cars which advertise where the car was bought from, "they" did get "smarter by putting number plate surrounds on the last few cars with a painted type sticker but a little thinners on a rag removes that.

Sorry Bob, as you just talked about signature I "assumed" this was the forum signature.

Wasn't even aware that the iPad had a signature setting, I have an aversion to all gadgets that start with "i".

I do however agree with you on the "free advertising" bit although I haven't gone to the extent of removing the slogan off my number plate.
