Cheap netbook
I bought an Asus eee netbook to take with me on my trip to Alaska, only paid $299 for it and it is a piece of junk. If you hover for any longer than a millisecond over a tab, close button or for that that matter any option the computer decides that that is the option you want. I've lost count of the number of times I've been logged out of programs, had programs open that I had no intention of opening or sent emails before they were ready to be sent. Also the screen resolution randomly drops from 1024 x 600 to 80 x 600 for no apparent reason. The touchpad is so damn sensitive that to be useable I'm going to have to get a mouse for it. If anyone is thinking of getting one of these pieses of carp, DON'T.

Sorry to hear about your troubles...
I've got a EEE 701SD, and it's my favourite toy (when I can get it away from my 7yo daughter).
It's so light and compact, runs multiple Linuces (a must for me), has good battery life, includes wireless, webcam, sound, a useable screen, USB ports, SD port, connectors for external sound, screen, etc. etc.
For my $250-ish dollars, I wish I'd bought a few more.
Cheers,
Andrew

I have one of the original Acer 10 inch units and don't have hassles with the touchpad. Sensitivity is adjustable from the Mouse Control Panel settings (Win XP), this may help you tweek the unit.

John, that's a shame to hear you had trouble with your EEE. I've got one and I just love it. The screen has never played up like that on me though
Just out of interest, I thought that was a 'feature' of the web browser on the EEE, that a hovering mouse pointer on the link equals click on the link. I'll have to check this out next time I use the EEE.
If I could get another EEE with a solid state harddrive running windows, I reckon I would. I just LOVE them.Box Challenge 2011 - Check out the amazing Boxes!

I've had a 901 for over 2 years and use it for all my recreational computer tasks. The only reason i use my normal laptop or desktops now is for work. I am thinking of upgrading to something a bit more powerfull though still in the netbook range, possibly a dell studio something or other with a 12" screen. I don't think i'd get the same battery life though.

It's a new computer with a warranty isnt it? Might be time to claim on same.
