Chrome browser
Just been playing with this and am quite impressed.
It's noticeably quicker than Firefox and IE, and has a clean design that leaves more room for info.
It's also said to operate in something like a sandbox and so be more secure than the competition. Only downside so far is that a gestures add-in hasn't been written for it.
Chrome download page.Cheers, Ern

If it FF & IE supported SINGLE key shortcuts ala Opera then the world would be a better place. I think Chrome is a great browser but lacks what I prefer and that is single key shortcuts, I have tried them all and keep going back to Opera for that one reason. BTW anything is better than IE especially in respect of security.

Chrome, Firefox and Safari also support HTML5, in particular the Canvas, which enables much better graphics.
Take a look at the new Oval calculator at http://www.blocklayer.com/oval.aspx in Chrome. It has the scaled drawing. It doesn't work in IE.
Also the stair (and other calculators) at http://www.blocklayer.com/stairs presents a better (different) drawing in Chrome, Firefox and Safari than in IE.

I am using Firefox. but have also tried Google Chrome and havent found it any better than firefox. I run with a lot of tabs open and firefox can't always handle it and run slower. Firefox is pretty and strong. Chrome is simple and strong. Google Chrome is faster than Firefox, but with Chrome, you cannot download any toolbars or addons. Firefox has a lot of cool themes, addons and toolbars that you can download.

As posted above, Gestures are avail in Chome and there are plenty more extensions. Click.
I like the relative integration of Google Search with Chrome. Saves a good deal of effort.Cheers, Ern

I use chrome, I think it's faster, less cluttered, and has a useful spell checker for all forms.

I've change from Firefox to Chrome in the last couple of months as I found Firefox to be a bit of a resource hog, and haven't noticed that with Chrome as yet. I also use a rather complex setup in my GMail (lots of lab features like 4 inboxes, etc) and Chrome does run GMail a lot faster than Firefox or IE.
It isn't as polished as Firefox, though it is a *lot* better than when it first came out.
One feature I have found that is very small, but I like, is when you close lots of tabs. In firefox and IE, if you close a tab they all automatically resize straight away (if you have quite a few open, as I always seem to ). In chrome, they all stay the same size for a few seconds, which lets you close however many tabs you're closing in one go without moving the mouse (assuming you're closing tabs from left to right). Not much, but I like it
Cheers,
Dave

22nd June 2010, 08:33 PM #12I think Google Chrome is brilliant! Thank you very much Google! If Chrome had add-ons, then I think it has the potential to be as good as Firefox. It is a close competitor at the moment though...
Cheers,
Dave

Spoke to my computer guy today about changing to Chrome and his advice was that IE8 is just as good as Chrome security wise not noticeably slower. He did admit that IE8 had problems in the early stages. I see no reason to doubt him, it's not as if he has anything to gain recommending one browser over the other. Unless of course he gets a lot of work because of problems caused by IE8 .

As long as IE remains the dominant browser that's what hackers will target so if only for that reason it's worth considering Firefox or Chrome.

Just playing devils advocate here Ern. If IE is under so much threat wouldn't that give the developers that much more incentive to make its defenses stronger?
