    Default clock and date revisited

As far as I know, the computer clock is updated once a week. Mine will not update because it is too far out of wack. I run XP, and ask how I can update my clock to say, every 6 hours.

I did a Google search and found there is somewhere in the registry where this can be done. I came unstuck when it came to finding Set001. Not there, only Set002 and Set003, End of story, could not navigate to Special Poll Interval.

    Any clues?

    Ken

To manually sync your computer. Right click on date and time in the system tray and left click on "Adjust date and time" Click on the" Internet time" tab Click "Change settings" Click "Update now" and your clock will be adjusted to the correct time via Time window server.

You can also download and install Atomic Clock Sync

You can adjust the time between automatic time syncs on XP by doing the following.

    Start the Registry Editor
    Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ W32Time \ TimeProviders \ NtpClient \
Double-click the SpecialPollInterval value, and change the Base of the Value data to Decimal
Change the Value data to the time interval you want, Remember the time is in seconds (so for 1 day the value would be 86400, while the default (7 days) is 604800

By my calculations six hours intervals value would be 21600

When finished. close the registry window.

Remember, if you don't know what you are doing with registry entries you can very easily mess up the whole thing so maybe if you are not confident with making those kind of changes take the other option.

I take no responsibility for any outcome that occurs from following the above directions.
